Ballates - a new way to move the body

where strength meets serenity

Ballates is a unique method that merges the elegance of ballet with the intelligence of pilates, modern dance, somatic education, and grounded movement science.

Created by international dancer and educator Evelin Banderas, Ballates was born from her personal journey of healing after multiple injuries, combined with over two decades of experience in teaching movement, anatomy, and bodywork.

Ballates draws from classical techniques like Barre au Sol (Boris Kniaseff) and Floor-Barre (Zena Rommett), while integrating elements of Pilates, Yoga, Modern Dance (mainly Martha Graham & Horton techniques), Feldenkrais, Somatic Education, all while using Biomechanics & contemporary movement science to fundament the method.

We honor tradition — but we also evolve with evidence. That’s why Ballates embraces up-to-date research in neuromuscular re-education, fascia studies, and injury prevention.

Scientific Roots, Feminine Soul

Why on the Floor?

All Ballates sessions are practiced mainly on the floor. This provides a stable base, helping reduce pressure on the joints, improve spinal alignment, and increase muscle recruitment with precision.

By working closer to gravity, students develop deeper awareness, more fluidity, and safe muscular engagement — without impact or the risk of traditional overcompensation patterns.
